[2024/01/18 15:32] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Right, so we just turned in the paper report, and headed back out to avoid retribution for failure and are making our way back up to the contested terretory with the humans in it

[2024/01/18 15:36] Sonja Bikergrrl: The Underdark is not a few narrow trails... it's literally a network of caves/caverns/fissues, if there's not several routes, that'd be surprising. You do indeed find a narrow fissure that seems like it might go in the right place, but it is rather warm and humid.

[2024/01/18 15:41] Sonja Bikergrrl: They're good rolls. 18 and 19... with a bit of pushing, pulling, and a mouthful of dirt, you finally stumble into a small-ish chamber. A crack in a wall issues a stream of steam, and you practically trip over a prone figure of a female drow.
[2024/01/18 15:41] Alicia Frakture: prone as in out cold or prone as in dead?
[2024/01/18 15:42] Sonja Bikergrrl: prone as in lying face down in the dirt
[2024/01/18 15:42] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Atilla freezes when he detects the prone drow, watching carefully to see if they move or are dead, eyes irregularly glancing to inspect the small chamber as well.

[2024/01/18 15:42] Sonja Bikergrrl: There's not enough water to drown in.
[2024/01/18 15:43] Alicia Frakture: Skamos is gonna get close and lightly poke the prone drow
[2024/01/18 15:45] Sonja Bikergrrl: The drow groans and waves an arm feebly, then she pushes herself up and spits out a mouthful of dirt. "Ulg... by the silken Goddess... what hit me.... what... who... who're you?"
[2024/01/18 15:46] Alicia Frakture: Oh good you're not dead... No idea what hit you. How are you feeling?
[2024/01/18 15:46] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "I am Atilla. We are scouting alternate paths to the human.... camp." He seemed about to use a much less polite word there.
[2024/01/18 15:48] Alicia Frakture: I'm Skamos, and I think the humans are crazier than I am
[2024/01/18 15:48] Alicia Frakture: And that's saying something
[2024/01/18 15:48] Sonja Bikergrrl: "thirsty... hungry..." she coughs, splutters. Apparantly she has quite the sore throat. "How long...?" (You are aware of who this one is. A minor priestess, not seen for quite a few shifts.) She pauses... "wait... humans?"
[2024/01/18 15:50] Alicia Frakture: HUmans, topsiders weird camp of people with the same necklaces
[2024/01/18 15:51] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Necklaces... what the..." She rises, but with difficulty. "Water. Food. You've brought something, haven't you?" She tries to sound commanding, but her voice is raspy and she breaks off into coughing
[2024/01/18 15:51] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "They are under truce flags," He fetches his rations, moving to offer his canteen and some of the dried mushroom biscuits he has.
[2024/01/18 15:52] Sonja Bikergrrl: "I saw them..." she mutters... "...I was scouting..." she takes the canteen and chugs from it greedily, then ravenously devours the biscuits.
[2024/01/18 15:53] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Supposedly they possess a great weapon. We are charged to discover exactly what it is."
[2024/01/18 15:55] Sonja Bikergrrl: She pauses munching and quaffing. "Yes... a weapon... I found a way in... they chased me but I gave them the slip... then something hit me... and now you're here..." her eyes narrow and she reaches down to her side for her flail, tucked at her lip, suddenly full of suspicion
[2024/01/18 15:56] Alicia Frakture: Yeah we just came through that hole there and found you." She sees the reach."If we wanted to hurt you or something we could have left you laying there, and not poking to see if you're okay."
[2024/01/18 15:56] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "A cavern collapse?" He gestures to the walls. "We had to dig our way into a crack in the wall."
[2024/01/18 15:57] Sonja Bikergrrl: She pauses again, and looks round. "Why are you here... what did you find?"
[2024/01/18 16:00] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: (( What did we find, i recall getting a partial clue but not putting eyes on it. ))
[2024/01/18 16:02] Sonja Bikergrrl: (You've found little actionable - so far. The obvious points so far? An escaped human, sick and asking for a healer, who was hunted by two others. A nervous, frosty reception from the humans. They wear some sort of bizarre pendant. A strange conversation in which a double cross was mentioned, and a large army.)
[2024/01/18 16:03] Alicia Frakture: We found humans chasing an old human. they were wearing these pendants/ necklaces. Talk of attacking the city an army and some kind of weapon and something called voodoo un.
[2024/01/18 16:04] Sonja Bikergrrl: "We need to *cough* find out what they're *cough* up to *cough*"
[2024/01/18 16:06] Alicia Frakture: That's what we were sent out to do
[2024/01/18 16:08] Alicia Frakture: Well that and... I think the High Priestess is worried I'm gonna blow up my room.
[2024/01/18 16:09] Sonja Bikergrrl: She waves an arm, indicating to go onward; the fissure does open up and it's rather more smooth going, with stalagtites and stalagmites in abundance and a lot of smooth deposited minerals. There are more jets of steam, hinting at a lava-heated spring, and the warmth is screwing with your darkvision.
[2024/01/18 16:10] Alicia Frakture: Every once in a while when walking through steam Skamos pauses ."Oh that gets the blood flowing."
[2024/01/18 16:12] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Atilla follows in behind the apparent Geomancer, pondering these options. "The surfacers neglected to defend their ceiling. I suspect the don't get attacked from that direction often."
[2024/01/18 16:13] Sonja Bikergrrl: The passageway opens up into a large area with columns of varyin widths, where the stalagmites and stalagtites have fused over the millenia. The drow stumbles, clutching her chest. "Don't... *cough* ...feel so good..."
[2024/01/18 16:15] Alicia Frakture: Skamos looks at her."Okay.. we might have to turn around and get her help."
[2024/01/18 16:15] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Skamous, does that sound like any sort of poison you're familiar with?" Or possibly just rock dust in the lungs.
[2024/01/18 16:15] Sonja Bikergrrl: She sinks to her knees, a hand on the ground to keep herself up, the other clutching her chest. "Uuunnng!"
[2024/01/18 16:17] Alicia Frakture: Skamos comes up to support her."Do we have any potions? None of my stuff is healing designed, no potions or anything."
[2024/01/18 16:18] Sonja Bikergrrl: She falls onto her side, curling tightly. "GGGNNNN!!" She starts to shake from side to side, finally screaming out one word. "AAAaaarrrgg... GODDESS!!!"
[2024/01/18 16:19] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Atilla rechecks his own inventory for healing and potion options, possibly coming up with one option...
[2024/01/18 16:20] Sonja Bikergrrl: As she writhes and thrashes about wildly, making the most shrill screams, a voice booms out: "Drow! We have you. Don't resist, and you won't get shot full of crossbow bolts." There's a pause, then, "And I'd stand clear of her, if I were you."
[2024/01/18 16:22] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Ah. Human voices? Well.
[2024/01/18 16:22] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: So Atilla plans to do two things in short order to that.
[2024/01/18 16:23] Sonja Bikergrrl: This should be good.
[2024/01/18 16:23] Alicia Frakture: I'm sorry but if you don't have an appointment you will have to wait for a table. Should have something open in 45 minutes!
[2024/01/18 16:23] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Firstly, unleash a *Darkness* spell to cloak the other drow, self, and Skamos in concealment, and then quickly move from the position he's currently standing in to better cover.
[2024/01/18 16:26] Sonja Bikergrrl: There's a muffled curse from the humans. "Fuck! Send the shamblers in. Shoot them, but we want them alive, ideally." At that, two zombies come lurching forwards. Maybe no one can -see-, but they can certainly -hear-, and the female drow is screaming louder and more agonizedly, and is writhing and thrashing about in a most unnerving way
[2024/01/18 16:27] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Time to deliver two arrows right between the eyes of the shamblers then, so that he can get close enough to the female drow to offer her a potion.

[2024/01/18 16:28] Sonja Bikergrrl: You can see two zombies lurching forwards. They make no effort to conceal.
[2024/01/18 16:30] Alicia Frakture: Do what you can to help her. I think we lost the element of surprise! *She then points a finger at the first shambler and activates her ring of finger guns and "Pew, pew" AS she shoots a shambler

[2024/01/18 16:32] Sonja Bikergrrl: Two arrows... they fly wide.

[2024/01/18 16:33] Sonja Bikergrrl: Skamos points at a zombie and a bolt of magical energy shoots from her fingertip to the nearest zombie, making it stumble. It keeps coming.
[2024/01/18 16:34] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: How much distance remains?
[2024/01/18 16:35] Sonja Bikergrrl: You hear a few shouted commands from the humans, but, they're drowned out by the shrillest scream you ever did hear from the female drow, and she jerks... which is an understatement, she seems to have been slammed into by a battering ram. Her cries weaken as she thrashes about, her body jerking at repeated blows... but from what, you can't see.
[2024/01/18 16:36] Sonja Bikergrrl: The zombies move slow, you got one more round before they're in your face, but, that looks like it could be the least of your problems.
[2024/01/18 16:36] Alicia Frakture: we see the Drow too?
[2024/01/18 16:37] Sonja Bikergrrl: You have the benefit of darkvision in your area, since Atilla cast darkness
[2024/01/18 16:37] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Well I have darkvision, Skamos has low light, yes?
[2024/01/18 16:37] Sonja Bikergrrl: Yep.
[2024/01/18 16:39] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Priestess, drink from this!" He gets the Decanter of Youth and proffers it to her as best as he can, if plausible helping her drink it. His spare hand will get a short sword ready to fend off the shamblers.

[2024/01/18 16:41] Alicia Frakture: Drags her sabre of lightning and begins giggling. a low wicked maniacal giggle as she charges the nearest Shambler

[2024/01/18 16:41] Sonja Bikergrrl: okay... d20 from Skamos
[2024/01/18 16:41] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: ( Cackling and crackling, you might say )

[2024/01/18 16:44] Sonja Bikergrrl: Skamos charges a zombie, swinging her sabre of lightning, but, she runs over a patch of clear sticky gloop... some sort of slime... whatever, she falls flat on her face, narrow missing disemboweling herself on her own sabre as the zombies trudge up to her prone form.

[2024/01/18 16:45] Sonja Bikergrrl: Meanwhile, there's a loud SCREAM from the priestess, which almost, but not quite, covers the sound of multiple bones breaking at once. There's a soggy -smack- and her chest literally erupts into a welter of blood and bone fragments.
[2024/01/18 16:46] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: I am suspecting that Atilla has not managed to get to her in time.
[2024/01/18 16:46] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Don't let that one get away!" a human voice calls back, then, louder, at you both, "Surrender, now, and you might live!"
[2024/01/18 16:46] Alicia Frakture: YOU'RE NOT MY SUPERVISOR!
[2024/01/18 16:46] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Hmmm. WHere's that human voice calling out from?
[2024/01/18 16:47] Alicia Frakture: Skamos still has her sabre so she is gonna try again, from prone position
[2024/01/18 16:47] Sonja Bikergrrl: Rising from the crater of the priestess' chest is what looks like a small headless pink salamander with some wicked sharp teeth. Her body twitches reflexively, but, she's clearly dead.
[2024/01/18 16:48] Sonja Bikergrrl: The voice is calling from in front of you somewhere; there's plenty of cover for them.
[2024/01/18 16:48] Sonja Bikergrrl: Bear in mind you need to get up, Skamos, and the zombies are on you.
[2024/01/18 16:49] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Atilla darts over to near Skamos, shortswords whirring at neck level to try and slay these zombies.
[2024/01/18 16:49] Alicia Frakture: *It is in mind but did not think she would have time to both get up and attack. So one was picked*
[2024/01/18 16:50] Sonja Bikergrrl: okay... Skamos rises and Attilla attacks... you have one short sword - d20

[2024/01/18 16:53] Sonja Bikergrrl: A zombie punches Skamos, the other swings but misses.
[2024/01/18 16:54] Sonja Bikergrrl: Meanwhile, the salamander thing in the priestess' chest hisses loudly and takes off, moving at blinding speed and disappears into the darkness
[2024/01/18 16:55] Sonja Bikergrrl: "You and you," the human voice comes, "Go, find that and bring it back."
[2024/01/18 16:55] Sonja Bikergrrl: Now what?
[2024/01/18 16:56] Alicia Frakture: Skamos got hit since zombie is in close proximity, Cackling and Crackling before whispering "keep this darkness up we may need to run."

[2024/01/18 17:03] Sonja Bikergrrl: Human: to themselves: "For fucks sake... bring up the drone." Then, louder, to you: "Last warning, you can still save yourselves!"
[2024/01/18 17:03] Sonja Bikergrrl: And that will make a good cliffhanger on the unfolding TPK :D
[2024/01/18 17:04] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Deciding that human chains are more demeaning than death, Atilla plans to go flank and get a kill-arrow on that human giving orders
